On March 30, a BoxBarrier demonstration was given on the VIP day of the 105 Bridge Company of the Dutch Army Corps of Engineers in ‘s Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. On this VIP day de Dutch Army Corps of Engineers demonstrated its capabilities to act in case of calamities (like flooding) to water boards, governments, fire brigades and companies.
The Rijnland District Water Control Board is the first Water Board to retain water with water using the BoxBarrier system. In the event of a calamity, this system, made up of a chain of plastic water containers, can be deployed on low embankments, when water levels are high as an alternative to sandbags.
The 263th anniversary of the Royal Dutch Army Corps of Engineers was celebrated on this day and an international conference was held.
