In the past winter months 120m of BoxBarrier have been put in a standby position by GMB for the dike reinforcement project in Krimpen, The Netherlands, to guarantee the water safety in the area.
At FloodProof Holland last Tuesday the BoxBarrier was presented to a Romanian delegation. Romania is facing numerous floodings and associated problems. The delegation was enthusiastic about the BoxBarier itself and the testing facilities at FloodProof Holland.
On the 10th of December a group of 30 Chinese professionals from Nanjing Water Resource Office visited FloodProof Holland being part of a 30 days training of UNESCO-IHE. This visit included a demonstration of the BoxBarrier. Despite the cold weather the professionals shared their enthusiasm regarding the BoxBarrier.
On the 30st of November the BoxBarrier participated in the independent testing of temporary and demountable flood barriers in Newcastle, Australia. The testing took place in a stormwater drain. The testing was organised by the City of Newcastle, Royal HaskoningDHV and Bluemont (the Australian agent of a.o. the BoxBarrier).
The coming months the BoxBarrier is standby to function as emergency measure at project dike reinforcement Krimpen, the Netherlands. The emergency measure has a foreseen length of 120m and has to be functioning within 12 hours.
