In Bodegraven along a canal a length of 100m of BoxBarrier was installed within 45 minutes. After the installation of the emercency flood system, the water level of the canal was increased. The BoxBarrier system retained the flood to 30cm height and locally to 50cm. It also withstood wave action from a passing boat.
Project Manager of the Water Board of Rijnland, Erik van der Linden, was very enthusiastic about the successful pilot project. The installation of the BoxBarrier was easy and fast, especially in comparison with traditional sand bags. The Water Board of Rijnland is interested to cooperate with further development of the BoxBarrier system.
